Online Library of World Wide Web resources for educators, learners, and parents

What is an "Online Library" ?
An online library is a collection of 'hyperlinks' to World Wide Web resources ('Websites') found on the Internet.  Our Online Library is a collection of edited 'hyperlinks' to resources of interest to educators, learners and parents.  To assist you in finding Websites that interest you, these 'hyperlinks' have been organised into a 'Catalogue of Links' called the 'Library Catalogue'.

Our Library Catalogue of World Wide Web resources consists of three Main Categories and a number of Sub-categories:
  1. General Education Resources -  These are links to ' Portal ' sites, each containing 100's of links to specific Websites based on a particular 'theme' (e.g. Language resources) and organised into well defined categories. In all cases these sites are maintained by teams of 'editors' who evaluate recommended content for inclusion.
      • Knowledge-wide portals
      • General Education portals
      • Subject / Learning Area specific portals
  2. Internet Search engines -  These are general tools for locating World Wide Web resources on the Internet.  Unlike the edited 'portals' above or the 'selected resources' below, these Internet tools rely on you to provide various 'search criteria' and the list of resources found is based largely on the 'mechanical' matching of key words, phrases and concepts.
      • Search 'only' engines
      • Combination 'Portal/Search' engines
      • Subject / Learning Area specific portals
      • South African search engines
      • Search engines for children
  3. Professional Development Resources -  These are links to sites intended for the practicing educator: resources to enhance teaching skills; resources for teacher training and development; resources for dealing with learning difficulties; and forums for sharing ideas and seeking solutions.
  4. Selected resources for the classroom -   Here you will find links to selected resources for educators and learners, broadly grouped into categories according to Learning Programmes, Learning Areas and Subjects as reflected in Curriculum 2005.
      • Learning Programmes for Early Childhood Development
        and the Foundation Phase
      • Learning Areas for the Intermediate and Senior Phases
      • Learning Fields / Subjects for the FET Phase
